ACCIDENTS

  • On Nov. 14 at about 9:33 p.m. the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigated a vehicle fire at Q Street a half mile north of 110th Street.  The Elliott Fire Department extinguished the fire. The owner and operator, Jared Scott Smith, 23, New Market, fell asleep, woke up as he was about to leave the road, swerved and went into the opposite ditch. Smith left the vehicle when it began to fill with smoke and called 911. The vehicle was a total loss.  The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
  • On Nov. 15 at about 5:13 p.m. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a reported hit and run accident at Halland Avenue and Broad Avenue in Stanton. A mid-2000s Chevrolet pickup, either black or dark gray, hit a light pole near the intersection. The vehicle then sped north out of Stanton. The light pole, owned by the City of Stanton, had about $2,000 damage.
