ACCIDENTS
- On Nov. 7 at 1:50 p.m. the Red Oak Police Department investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 34 and Eastern Avenue. A 1991 Dodge Dakota driven by Kyle Stanley, 26, Red Oak failed to remain stopped at the stop sign on the north side of Highway 34 and pulled into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet K1500 pickup driven by Kevin Hale, 45, Red Oak. Hale was unable to stop and struck Stanley’s vehicle. Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $6,000. Stanley was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.
- On Nov. 9 at 5:23 p.m. a 2007 Harley Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle owned and operated by Troy Anderson was eastbound on Highway 34 about a mile east of Stanton when he struck a deer. Anderson, who was not wearing a helmet, received minor cuts and abrasions to his hands and refused medical treatment at the scene. Damage to the motorcycle was approximately $7,000 and Anderson was cited for failure to have a valid motorcycle license.
- On Nov. 11 at about 8:10 a.m. a 1999 Chevy Silverado pickup owned by Riley Christie and driven by Jacob Baker, 18, New Market, was northbound on O Avenue about two miles south of Stanton, when Baker lost control on the ice, slid into the ditch, and rolled. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at about $6,500. There were no injuries and no citations were issued. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office was assisted by Stanton Fire and Rescue.
- On Nov. 12 at approximately 2:58 p.m. Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a one-vehicle accident at the 1800 block of 230th Street. A 2002 Ford F150 pickup was eastbound when it left the road, struck a power pole, traveled through a ditch and struck a tree. The vehicle, owned and operated by David Berggren, 76, Red Oak, was estimated a total loss with $25,000 damage. Berggren stated he lost consciousness briefly while driving. He was take to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital emergency room by Red Oak Rescue. No citations were issued and the investigation is complete.
