ACCIDENTS
- On Oct. 27 Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified of a property damage accident that had occurred in the 2200 block of 148th Street, Montgomery County. Both vehicles involved had left the scene and Michael Allen Williams, driver of a 2002 Ford Ranger, came to the sheriff’s office to make the report. He stated he was driving westbound on 148th Street when he met a white Jeep Cherokee with a U.S. Postal Service sign on it traveling east. Williams further stated that the Jeep failed to yield half the roadway, causing him to take evasive action and drive into the north ditch. This caused the right side of his vehicle to collide with the embankment, damaging the right front and side of the Ranger. The Jeep continued east on 148th Street. Deputies contacted officials from the post office, who reported that they had no mail carriers on that road, as they had contacted all mail carriers with vehicles close to the description given as well as all carriers that service the area. The investigation into the incident is complete unless new information is uncovered.
- On Oct. 30 at 3:33 p.m. Red Oak Police Department officers investigated a two-vehicle accident. A 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by Bette Lou Larson, 74, Red Oak, was traveling east on Coolbaugh Street and ran a stop sign, hitting a 1998 Dodge Neon, operated by Miranda Nicole Jones, 16, Red Oak, which was traveling south on 3rd Street. Larson was cited for failure to obey stop or yield sign. Damage to the Impala was estimated at $1,500 and damage to the Neon was $1,700. Jones' car was towed and she was taken to the hospital.
- On Nov. 1 at approximately 4:21 a.m. the Montgomery County Sheriff's office received a report of a single vehicle rollover accident at the intersection of James Street and Halland Avenue in Stanton. A 2007 Chrysler Sebring owned and operated by Haley Lynn Lembrick, 20, Shenandoah was traveling north on Halland Avenue and attempted to turn onto the railroad right of way, thinking it was a road. Lembrick lost control and struck the railroad tracks. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its wheels. The driver was uninjured and damage to the vehicle is estimated at $6,000. The driver was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age. The Montgomery County Sheriff's office was assisted by Stanton and Red Oak Fire and Rescue.
- On Nov. 4 at approximately 3:23 p.m. Red Oak Police Department officers were called to the Red Oak High School parking lot for a two-vehicle non-injury accident. A 2002 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Tracy Taylor, Red Oak, and driven by Jesse Raymond Taylor, 16, Red Oak backed into a 1998 Ford F150 pickup owned by Julie Stanley, Red Oak and driven by James Brian Stanley, Red Oak. Taylor's vehicle sustained $500 damage and damage to Stanley's vehicle was estimated at $2,000. No citations were issued.
