Accidents

• On Oct. 21 at 5:23 p.m., a 1999 International semi-tractor with attached 2013 Smithco side-dump trailer, driven by Frank Blaha, Lincoln, Neb., was stopped at the intersection of 230th and M. Ave. A 2001 International semi-tractor with attached 2013 Smithco side-dump trailer, driven by Shawn Costales of Lincoln, Neb. was following. Due to dusty road conditions, Costales did not see Blaha had stopped. Costales swerved to avoid a collision but struck the left rear bumper and tire of the trailer. Blaha’s truck left the road, going through a fence owned by Max Peterson of Stanton. Blaha’s truck sustained damage to the right side axles and mud flaps. Costales was transported by Red Oak Rescue to Montgomery County Hospital for possible injuries. Blaha refused treatment. Both drivers submitted to D.O.T. drug testing at the hospital. Blaha’s vehicle sustained an estimated $11,000 in damage. Costales’ vehicle sustained $4,500 damage. Both vehicles are owned by Gana Trucking and Amp Excavating, Inc. No citations were issued.
