ACCIDENTS
- On Jan. 5 at about 7:36 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 8th Street and Highway 34. Caroline Chambers, 37, Red Oak, driving a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan, was traveling south on 8th Street and was stopped at the stop sign. She proceeded into the intersection and pulled into the path of a 2014 Lexus G6P, driven by William Marsh, 67, Grand Island, Neb., which was traveling west on Highway 34. Damage to the Chambers vehicle was about $4,000, while damage to the Marsh vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Chambers was cited for failure to remain stopped at stop sign.
- On Jan. 5 at about 2:47 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies received a report of a one-vehicle roll-over accident about four miles west of Red Oak on Highway 34. A 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by German Alvarado-Ramirez, was traveling east when it entered the north shoulder and traveled back across the highway to the north ditch, which it entered backwards and overturned, coming to rest on its wheels. Alvarado-Ramirez and his passenger, Cynthia Wheeler, owner of the vehicle, were transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital by Red Oak Fire and Rescue. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000 and it is considered a total loss. Alvarado-Ramirez was cited for no driver’s license and no insurance. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
